In daily life Michiel is an Engineer in the petrochemical industry. A world where everything has to be right and where procedures have to be worked accurately. In his spare time, he prefers to put the rules and procedures aside. With art he can do my own thing and let creativity take over, where impulsive ideas often do better good than bad. It is the combination of biting the pen at his desk job and plodding through the polyester in his spare time that continues to inspire, motivate and DO. The art that Michiel makes falls under the term 'waste art', images made of waste. Its base and mold starts with a resource that you normally throw away. Once the resource has been chosen, the shaping and modeling of the final image starts. The result? Valuable and meaningful image. In times of climate change, it is more than necessary to be aware of our resources. From waste to art. From the nothing to the something. .... What a satisfaction!
